This book will prepare you for Associated Board graded exams but will also be of benefit to any student who wishes to improve their playing. It introduces elements of advanced practice techniques, such as playing scales with rhythms, articulations, and sequences from as early as Grade 1!
Why Practice This Way?
A solid technique requires many skills in your flute tool box! You'll want to work towards developing a great tone, breath control, crisp articulation, finger & tongue coordination, and fluency across the range of the instrument. Unfortunately, playing simple two octave scale patterns will not be of benefit to you in this regard. To improve your skills, you need to practise scales using varied rhythmic patterns, articulations, sequences and dynamics, as these are the elements that reflect the demands of the repertoire you play.
Practising these skills as often as you can is what will benefit your technique over time, so, don't delay!
